Built by creators, for creators
We were frustrated spending hours on thumbnails that still underperformed. So we spent 6 months researching what actually works, then built the tool we always wanted.
Great content deserves to be found
ThumbForge was founded in 2023 after the team spent months studying YouTube thumbnail data across 500,000+ videos. The finding was clear: the most clickable thumbnail almost always wins over the best video.
We looked at every existing tool. Canva had great templates but they all looked the same — creators kept producing identical thumbnails because everyone used the same library. AI generators were inconsistent and slow. Photoshop was powerful but took 30 minutes.
The gap: a tool with niche-specific templates that actually look different from each other, with a workflow fast enough to use between filming and uploading. That's ThumbForge.
The people behind ThumbForge
Our values
Data over opinion
Every template layout, color choice, and text placement in ThumbForge is backed by real CTR data — not what looks nice to us.
Speed is the feature
Creators are already spending hours filming and editing. Thumbnail creation should take 60 seconds. Every extra click we remove matters.
Niche-specific beats generic
A gaming thumbnail and a finance thumbnail should look completely different. Generic templates help nobody stand out. Ours don't look like Canva's.
Free plan that actually works
We believe the free plan should be genuinely useful, not a bait-and-switch. All 50+ templates, free, always. We earn trust before asking for money.
How we got here
The research starts
Jamie and Arjun spend 6 months analysing 500,000+ YouTube thumbnails. The insight: niche-specific, high-contrast, minimal-text designs dominate every category.
Beta launch with 50 templates
ThumbForge launches in private beta. First feedback: "Finally templates that don't all look the same." CTR improvements reported within days.
10K users, zero paid ads
Growth purely through creator word-of-mouth in YouTube communities. Reaches 10,000 users in the first month after public launch.
Mobile preview & brand kit launch
Two of the most-requested features from creators: preview how your thumbnail looks at phone size, and save your brand colors for consistent use across videos.
85,000 creators & growing
ThumbForge is now used in 42 countries. Still template-first. Still research-driven. Still obsessed with that 60-second workflow.
